Our Pastors

Tonya Ramer Wenger, Pastor

Tonya has been serving as pastor at First Mennonite since August 2010, coming to us after almost 11 years as the pastor of Madison Mennonite Church in Madison, WI. Her deepest desire as a pastor is to help create space for each person to experience the transforming power of God that calls them to an active life of discipleship in the world.

Tonya is a graduate of Bethel College in North Newton, KS and the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, IN. She has completed 5 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (Ft. Wayne, IN and Tucson, AZ), and more recently completed the Clergy Spirituality and Leadership Program at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation near Baltimore, MD. Tonya is happily married to Jonathan, and together they are raising four children in grade school and high school.

Nathan Koontz, Associate Pastor

Nathan began at First Mennonite Church in October of 2013 as Associate Pastor (a 1/2 time position). He has previously served as director of prison ministries at Offender/Victim Ministries and as Associate Pastor at Faith Mennonite Church in Newton, Kansas. His primary focus at First Mennonite is pastoral care.

Nathan is a graduate of Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas and Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio. Nathan lives in Newton with his wife Esther and their three children. Nathan enjoys woodworking and repurposing objects to help his son's 1963 Mercury Comet fly.
